Mediaeval journey and treasure hunt

During the Mediaeval Journey in Finale Ligure, the Happy Family Hotels group organises a hunt for the treasure of the famous Marquess Giovanni del Carretto.

The Mediaeval Journey is an important event organised by the Historical Association of Finale in collaboration with the international Portuguese company Viv'Arte di Oliveira do Bairro. The historic centre of Finalborgo, which was voted one of the most beautiful towns in Italy in 2004, is decorated to evoke the most splendid part of the reign of the Marquesses of Finale, the del Carretto family.

Between 18 and 21 August this year, the pizzas and streets will become again as they were at the end of the 1500s, taking visitors back to that era through magic and jugglers, knights and their ladies, performances and mediaeval celtic music. Happy Family Hotels wants to add that bit extra of extra fun for the families staying with us and so, as part of the event,  we are organising a special treasure hunt.

The Marquess Caterina del Carretto, daughter of the Marquis Giovanni, is pleased to invite your family to find stones which have been lost from the Gavone castle and which have been used in the construction of houses around the town. As a reward, the Marquess Caterina will invite everyone who has been kind enough to help in finding the treasure to attend a banquet of fruits.

The Marquess Caterina del Carretto has again decided to get you all together to help find the lost pieces from her impressive castles and will tell you the exact date on these pages. In gratitude for your special help the Marquess can share the photos which were taken during last year's event (click on the photo to see the whole gallery of pictures of the event).
